Using Sideleaf

These terms cover the Sideleaf website and general product use, provided by Kortexa AI. Sideleaf needs no account. Use the app and website lawfully and respect other people’s rights; do not interfere with the website’s operation or security.

The software license comes first

Sideleaf’s own source code is available under the MIT License. Its permissions and conditions govern copying, modification, and distribution of that code. Other components retain their third-party licenses, and corresponding runtime source is available with the releases.

These terms do not limit rights granted by those licenses, including modifying and relinking libraries or reverse engineering to debug such modifications. Those licenses control if there is a conflict with this page. Sideleaf and Kortexa names and artwork are not a grant to imply endorsement of a modified product.

Your content and files

You retain ownership of your writing and comments. We claim no rights to your documents. The app works with local files, including a companion file for comments. You are responsible for keeping backups and having permission to use the files you open.

This is an early release. Saves are explicit, and unsaved drafts do not yet have crash recovery. Keep copies of important work. Features, platform support, and later releases may change; we do not promise any particular future feature or update schedule.

Downloads and other services

Downloads, source code, release notes, and public issues are hosted on GitHub. Your use of GitHub and any operating-system services is also subject to their terms. The Windows installer is currently unsigned. Check the release page for the supported platforms, known limitations, and checksums.

Availability and warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and software are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that files can never be lost or damaged.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from using or being unable to use Sideleaf or the website, including lost data or profits. Nothing here excludes a right, warranty, or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. The software licenses also contain their own warranty and liability provisions.

Privacy, changes, and contact

The privacy policy explains local data, release checks, and website logs. We may revise this page for changes to the product or website; the date above identifies the current version. Changes to these website terms do not revoke rights already granted under an open-source license.
